1.  What are the main theories for 2012 “end of the world” events?

  • The Galactic Alignment
  • Approaching Planet X

The Galactic alignment and the approaching “Planet X” (or Nibiru) are the two main theories that are being blamed for the much talked about cataclysmic effects of  dooms day or end of the world, as we know it.

These two doomsday theories are widely based on the indications of the Mayan calendar, which has “predicted” a galactic season to roll over to a new era on December 21, 2012.

2.  What is proven to happen from 2012 theory?

Similar to how the movement of the earth around the sun causes many different seasonal affects, which we call summer or winter, the galactic movement of the sun around its galaxy will affect the earth in a more intense fashion for longer periods of time.

Although such galactic changes may or may not happen in 2012, it is scientifically proven that they will take place at some point in the future.

3.  What is the Mayan calendar?

December 21 for the ancient Mayans marked a huge celebration period that recognized the end of a whole calendar cycle. This calendar was not only based on the solar system (movement of the earth around the sun) or the lunar system (movement of the moon around the earth) but astonishingly it was based on a whole galactic system movement, comprising of movement of the moon around the earth, the earth around the sun, as well as our sun around it’s galaxy.

4.  What is a galactic system and how does it work?

Just as the earth moves around the sun – identical to many other solar systems – our sun itself is in constant circulation around the black hole of its (our) galaxy. Most people are quite surprised to find out that the sun is moving at a speed of nearly 1,000,000 km every hour and is constantly accelerating. So with its massive gravitational force the sun is also pulling the earth and rest of our neighbouring planets along with it.

5.  Did the Mayans get it right?

The Mayans with their incredible knowledge of astronomy were able to predict the movements of the moon around the earth, the movements of the earth around the sun and amazingly the movement of the sun (hence our solar system) around the Milky Way galaxy. And as far as we can prove, they did this flawlessly.

6.  Why should we believe in the Mayan calendar?

The Mayan years were so accurate that it eliminated the need for Leap years, something today’s calendars cannot avoid. These ancient people who lived (as far as archaeologists can trace back) nearly 5000 to 7000 years ago kept their solar calendar years to exactly 365.25 days.

The Maya were not just astronomers, but sophisticated astronomers; people in the pre-Classic period whose daily work revolved on their observation of the skies and stars. As a matter of fact, they appear to be the only pre-telescopic civilization to demonstrate knowledge of the Orion Nebula.

The Mayan calendar predicts that the sun will finish its one complete rotation around the Milky Way galaxy, hence rolling over to a new galactic year. For the humankind on the earth, each galactic year takes approximately 26,000 25 million solar years. At this time the sun will cross exactly through the galaxy’s equinox, which could also be considered as the Galaxy’s “equator”. If this prediction is true then it means that during such special galactic alignment the sun and the earth will be exposed to an increase in the gravitational forces that are triggered from the Milky Way galaxy’s centre, commonly know as the “Black Hole”.

As mentioned before, the reason why the 2012 Mayan calendar is so highly regarded is because it is considered to be even more sophisticated than modern day calendars and it so complicated that we still cannot decipher everything the calendar predicts. It consists of a 365-day agricultural calendar, as well as a 260-day sacred calendar. The people of Maya had measured the length of the solar year to a high degree of accuracy and was perfected to a precision that our own Gregorian calendar lacks.

7.  When exactly did the Mayans predict doomsday?

The ancient people of Maya produced a calendar that predicts the galactic alignment and disruption in the gravitational of force of the earth to be exactly on 12/21/2012 at 11:11 p.m. Universal Time. Although it is commonly believed amongst scientists that such disruptions will not occur rapidly, such date and time may very well be the start of a new Galactic seasons and consequent disruptions.

The Mayan calendar’s solar tracking of the earthly days were extremely accurate, which is why many people believe that their early galactic prediction will also prove to be exact. Although there is no doubt that the solar system will eventually cross through the Milky Way’s equinox, there are many scientists engaged in vigorous debates on whether or not the Mayans were correct about their prediction and whether or not this will prove to cause a polar shift on December 2012; something that remains to be witnessed for accuracy.

8.  What has science proven about the Mayan calendar?

There are many people who are excited about events of 2012 and many that have full doubts. However, scientists have proven that cataclysmic events are destined to take place on earth. However, whether or not the start of a new Mayan year in 2012 is thought to be the start of the cataclysmic disasters is yet to be proven.

9.  What happened to the Mayas?

The Mayas continuously calculated future events through the studying the skies, mostly considerably the Venus cycle, in the observatory named, The Pyramid of Kukulkan. Their work and their living continued until their calendar mysteriously stops on a winter solstices. ( solstice is an astronomical event that happens twice each year, when the tilt of the Earth’s axis is most inclined toward or away from the Sun, causing the Sun’s apparent position in the sky to reach its northernmost or southernmost extreme. – Wikipedia)

Mayan Civilization

Mayan Civilization

The day the Mayan race and their calendar stop is exactly on December 21st, 2012, which is the day winter solstices. Many people who reject the Mayan calendar perdition label this date as being purely coincidental. As a matter of fact, this is exactly what started the whole debate of the 2012 Mayan calendar.

How could a civilization so intelligent, so precise, so devoted, just abruptly stop to exist on a specific day? What is even stranger is the whole civilization seems to have just vanished, with no left behind them.

The Mayans did in fact just disappear. Where did they go? I believe that there was an epidemic and that wiped them out.

There are descendants of the Mayans on the Yucatan Penninsula. Therefore I think they dispersed throughout the Mexico and Central America. There civiization died as all corrupt civilizations have died throughout history. I am not an expert, but I do not believe in doomsday. Our civilization, being corrupt will soon die from within like Rome Greece and the other great dead civilizations in history.

      Mel,

      Cannot agree with you more…

Any civilization, nation or government that takes the path of corruption, exploitation and oppression will stop to exist one day. As a matter of fact, anything, be it a civilization or not, that deviates from the Truth will eventually perish, since falsehood by its very nature is bound to perish.

I think 2012 is a big joke. Why? Because in the bible, it said nothing about the end of the world being in 2012. Has anyone notice in history that there was another date in history that was supposed to be the end of Earth. Also, God told Noah that he would never flood the Earth again. Another thing was when God was about to destroy the Earth, Jesus told God that he would sacrifice his life instead of the worlds. Now here is a trick question. Do you really think God would end the World if he created it? Think about that question and type in your answer as a comment for this site.

      Hi Hunter,

God is the first and the last. What does that mean?

It means that He WAS when there was nothing and He will be when there will be nothing.

Thanks to the scientific discoveries, we now know that the universe had a beginning – The Big Bang – which, to those who believe in Him, confirms that there was God when the universe did not exist.

His work is also manifested through everything we see in the universe. Your life, my life and everything that exists is the replication of the universe around us.

Look around you! do you see anything that you can say, with confidence, will last forever and for eternity? Hunter, the answer is absolutely not.

You will die, I will die, everything that has existed will die and the earth and the universe will perish. This is a promise binding God in truth. The creation of this universe is the manifestation of his absolute power to those who recognize it and those who don’t its destruction will be, the again He will create it.

But just as He created you and I in the first place, after all perish by His will, in a new creation He will give us life again and we shall be judged according to the ways we lived our lives in this life. That is when we will be given admission to “heaven” or “hell” according to our deeds.

On the topic whether the prophesied cataclysmic effects of 2012 are for sure a reality or not, it still remains to be seen. As I indicated in the article; we know for a surety that the world will come to and end, this is again confirmed by scientific discoveries. However, the only reason we relate the end of the world year 2012 is because the Mayan calendar has been correct and precise in its previous timing.

As for Jesus and the Bible; please do not believe that the Bible is completely an inerrant the word of God.

The bible contains some truth, which was passed down to Jesus from God and some falsehood which was added to it by others over 2000 years. The existence of numerous copies and version of the Bible is a clear testimony to that.

I strongly recommend that you read Misquoting Jesus by Bart Ehrman.

This is a magnificent book, recommended by many.

      Cheers.

I have read, watched video presentations about Jenkins, Wilcock, Tsarion, Icke and many other new agers. To be honest, they are full of mistakes regarding Astronomy. According to Jenkin’s website http://alignment2012.com/whatisGA.htm , he gives the precise definition of 2012 alignment as follows: “the alignment of the December solstice sun with the Galactic equator”, which occurs in the range 1980 – 2016. This is the alignment zone I refer to with the term “era-2012.” He further sates: “Because the sun is one-half of a degree wide, it will take the December solstice sun 36 years to precess through the Galactic equator.” Our solar system is aprox. 180 trillion miles away, and the Mayans to be able to locate the Galactic Equator at such a distance to measure the precession, they must have been in possession of some kind of astronomical instruments. For the sake of argument let’s say I bought an 11 inch Celestron telescope and try to find the location of the Galactic Equator. Please notice that in our case we are talking about locating the galactic equator that is aprox 65 light years away. Of course this means that we will need a good star catalog since we will be looking for objects we can’t find through the ’scopes finder scope, and the only way to locate them is by knowing their right ascension and declination. The second thing is locating the position of our solar system in the galaxy and the Mayan boss question would have been: “ hey guys! Where are we in the ‘XYZ’ coordinate axes of the Galaxy? north or south of the galactic equator? Can you guys see any pancake-shaped spiral disk? Come on guys, can’t you see Jenkins is rushing me for his “2012 theory”? I want to see some results pretty soon or your heads will roll down the pyramid. Well, you can imagine what happened to the poor “quetzalcoatls”. Other big mistake is, he claims that it will take the sun 36 years to precess (half degree in precession) through the Galactic equator. This only would be true from Earth’s perspective, if the sun had no motion and its precise midpoint is in alignment with the galactic plane; but the sun is in constant motion at a speed of 495000 miles/hour and not at rest . This galactic alignment according to Jenkins occurs only once every 26000 years, and I assume the reasons he says that is because maybe he thinks winter solstice falls always on December 21 which is not true. Everything that exists is in constant motion and nothing is at rest, just as Paracelsus said: “as above, so below.” So do our seasons, they constantly fall on different months due to the precession of the Earth around its own axis. For instance, in around 6500 years from now the winter solstice will fall in September 21 and summer solstice will fall in March 21. In 13000 years the winter solstice will fall in June 21 and summer solstice in December 21. In other words, solstice months change every 6500 years and the alignment of the winter solstice sun with the galactic equator should occur 4 times every 26000 years and not once as Jenkins claims. Notice that Jenkins calls it December winter solstice, but what about the September 21, June 21 and March 21 winter solstice in that some precession cycle of 26000 years.???
To make matters worse some new agers spread false information by saying that our sun crosses the galactic plane every 26000 years, it’s really absurd and laughable. This is wrong and completely false because 26000 years is the amount of time it takes our planet Earth to precess or rotate around its axis to complete a 360 degree period. The sun has a cycle of 64 million years and crosses the galactic disc approximately every 32 million years and not what some new agers claim. Right now our solar system is located in one of the most dense and unstable area of the Milky Way. Cataclysmic events occurred in the past history of our Universe and more or less the cycle is just repeating itself. Our solar system may encounter all those dense cosmic clouds of the spiral arms, explosions, gamma ray bursts, hot plasma ejected from the blackhole (Sagittarius A), but our planet Earth will survive. It could be a nightmare and a tough ride but not the end of the world. Asteroids, in particular in the Oort cloud, Kuiper belt, could be disturbed or destabilized out of their orbit and hurl toward earth. Intense volcanic activity, intense earthquakes, tsunamis, global cooling and meteor showers could be expected as well. Global cooling effect could happen if intense cosmic dust blocks the sun’s rays from reaching earth, intense volcanic activity, or if asteroid strikes the earth like 64 or 32 million years ago as an example. Guess what..!! we are still here. Solar flares could knock down satellites and everything that depends on it such as internet, cellphones….etc will be affected; well, is not bad to have a break and start listening to one’s inner self and if you want to make a call, you could use smoke and mirrors, a flag, flashlight or a couple of tin cans. Possible eruption of Yellowstone caldera anytime in the next years, due to the intense heating up of our solar system. New agers claim that” humanity is going through some kind of spiritual crisis, a paradigm shift and humans will be transformed into beings of light. I don’t think if someone gets zapped with an X photon ray will be transformed into a being of light. I think more into looking at a charred or molten body. We went through hundred millions of crisis, shifts and we are still here. Mayans and many other civilizations worshiped the sun and sacrificed people in the most horrible way. Those were satanic practices, like the ones practiced by the ancient Hindus, Phoenicians, Babylonian ancient Rome, Greece, East Asia to their god baal, moloch and lucifer as is known in the Bible. They sacrificed their own children in ritual killings, by cutting them into pieces or throwing them in the fire in order to appease their gods and their diabolic belief. How could they dare to say that these were smart people?????. How could I trust people who tell me that these were “good guys”???. The only one that sides with the devil, is the devil himself. There is plenty of evidence that shows advanced knowledge in Astronomy, Maths… in the Babylonian, Egyptian and Mesoamerican Civilizations because they all borrowed from the most ancient one which is the Hindu civilization. They inherited knowledge and they incorporated it into their cults, traditions as a form of worship because they didn’t understand it or maybe there is something in it that does hold some truth but we are unable to understand it. Symbols and signs are not easy to decipher and sometimes may lead to wrong conclusions and induce error. Cataclysmic events happened since the dawn of life on Earth as the geological data shows, ice core samples, fossil records…Million of species went extinct and guess what..We, humans, are still here and we will continue to be here. Human beings are the most adaptable creatures, and the most difficult ones to get rid off !!!!!. So, don’t get scared or succumb to fear tactics by a bunch of people whose aim is purely financial. Do your research; use your guts and your common sense. The year 2012 will be just another year, it may look a little bit different. But believe me, you will be having your breakfast and getting ready for work. If something happens, two things may occur. Either we die or we live to suffer another day. Don’t let the new agers mess up with your mind or let fear captivate your hearts. Always remember what Franklin Roosevelt said:
“The only thing to fear is fear itself“.
    Cheers……..

    Actually,
“galactic year takes approximately 26,000 solar years”
This is the time it takes earth’s precession to complete.
The galactic year is actually 225 million years, the time it takes the sun to revolve around the galaxy.
It takes light 100,000 years to travel from one edge of the galaxy to the other. If the galactic year was 26,000 years, we’d be able to see our self at multiple points at the other end.

You are welcome Dr Soupy… A lot of people still confuse the astronomical concepts. And to be honest, i was one of them but i realized that the things were not as explained by some pseudoscientists. However, there are many credible scientists out there and a lot of credible information as well. Sometimes to get to the bottom, all one has to do is dig and dig, just as the archaeologists do.

Yes you are right,, It takes the sun to complete a full rotation around the central bulge aprox 225 million years. But the galactic equator is a different thing, The sun crosses the galactic equator every 32 million years in a sunosoidal motion. And 26000 years is tha time it takes the sun to wobble around its own axis….. Thanks
